Who we are
These terms are between you and Kenning, the operator of kenning.news.
You can contact us about anything, including data rights, corrections and legal notices, at hello@kenning.news.
Kenning is not regulated by IPSO or any press regulator, and we do not claim to be.
What Kenning offers
- A directory of AI tools, with Kenning scores out of 25.
- A glossary of AI terms.
- Profile pages of public figures in AI.
All of this is free to use. We do not currently sell anything to readers. Nothing on Kenning today creates a paid contract with you.
Editorial content, AI assistance and accuracy
Our content is researched and drafted with AI assistance under human editorial control. We cite sources. Our scoring method is explained at /tools/#how-we-score.
Tool pages, profiles and scores are editorial information and opinion as at the date they were published or last updated. They can go out of date. They are not legal, financial, investment, business or other professional advice. Please check important facts with the original sources before you rely on them or make a decision.
We work hard to be accurate. If we get something wrong, we want to know. See the section on corrections below.
Kenning scores and the tool directory
Each tool in our directory has a Kenning score out of 25. Our method is explained at /tools/#how-we-score.
- Scores are editorial. They are based on published evidence. They are not lab tests, and we do not say we have tested every tool.
- Scores are our opinion on the date shown. They may change as tools change.
- A Kenning score is not a consumer review, a customer rating or an endorsement by the tool's maker.
- Vendors cannot pay to change a score. Affiliate links and commercial relationships never affect scores.
If you are a maker and think a score or fact is wrong, send evidence to hello@kenning.news.
People profiles and court records
Our profile pages (in /people/) are built from public sources, which we cite. We review them at least every three months. Some companies have an "In court" section that links to public court or regulator records.
- Profiles report what public sources say. A court or regulator record is not proof that someone did what was alleged unless the record says so.
- We do not publish private life, family, health or home details.
- If you think a profile is wrong or unfair, tell us at hello@kenning.news with the page and the source. We will review it. See the Privacy Policy for your data protection options.
Affiliate links
Kenning is paid for by affiliate links.
- Some links to tools are affiliate links. If you sign up or buy through one, we may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra.
- Affiliate links are marked where they appear. Commissions never affect Kenning scores or what we publish.
These terms describe our policy. The label on the page is the notice that counts at the moment you click.
Intellectual property and permitted use
Kenning's directory and database, profiles, glossary, scores, branding and design belong to Kenning or are used under licence. Copyright and database rights protect them. Logos and trade marks of other companies belong to their owners.
You may read the site, share links to it, and quote short extracts with credit and a link. You may use it for your own personal, non-commercial use. You must not:
- copy, republish or resell our content, or use it for your own directory;
- scrape the site or extract or reuse substantial parts of our database by automated means or otherwise;
- use our name, logo or scores in a way that suggests we endorse you; or
- use our content to train an AI model without our written permission.
This does not limit anything the law lets you do, such as fair dealing for criticism, review or news reporting. If you think we have used your work wrongly, email hello@kenning.news with the page, what is yours, and proof of ownership. We will look into it promptly.
Acceptable use
Please do not use Kenning to do anything unlawful, defamatory, abusive, infringing or malicious. Do not impersonate anyone. Do not try to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site or our systems. We may block access if you do.
Third-party links and tools
Kenning links to other sites, tools, sources and court or regulator records. We include them for information and convenience. We do not control them, we do not endorse them just by linking to them, and their own terms and privacy practices apply when you use them. Check them before you sign up or pay. This does not remove any responsibility we have for our own statements.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. If you are a consumer, your legal rights are not affected, including the right to services provided with reasonable care and skill.
Subject to that, we are not liable for losses that were not a foreseeable result of our breach, for business losses (such as lost profit, revenue or opportunity) if you use the site for business, or for loss caused by relying on content that has since changed or turned out to be wrong. We provide Kenning free, on an "as is" basis, and we do not promise it will always be available or error free.
Corrections, complaints and legal notices
Email hello@kenning.news. Please tell us:
- the page;
- what is wrong, and what you believe is correct;
- any evidence or source; and
- your name and how to reach you.
We aim to acknowledge complaints within 5 working days and to review them promptly. The outcome may be a correction, an update, a note, removal, or an explanation of why we are standing by what we published. The same address is for legal notices and copyright notices.
If we add new features
Kenning may add new features. If we do, the following also apply to that feature. We will tell you before they start and update these terms.
Paid or featured directory placements. If we introduce them, they will always be labelled "Sponsored" or "Featured", and they will never affect a Kenning score.
Tool submissions by makers. If we accept submissions:
- you must make sure everything you send is accurate and that you have the right to send it;
- you give us a non-exclusive, free licence to use your logos, screenshots and text in the directory and in our promotion of it;
- submitting does not guarantee a listing, a score or any coverage; and
- we may edit, decline or remove a listing at any time.
Reader reviews and comments. If we introduce them:
- we will moderate them and may remove content that breaks the acceptable use rules or the law;
- you must give honest reviews based on real experience, and say if you were paid, given something free or otherwise rewarded;
- fake reviews, hidden incentives and review swaps are banned under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024, and we will remove them and may report them;
- you can report content to hello@kenning.news, and we will review it promptly; and
- you keep ownership of what you post, and give us a licence to display it.
We will reassess our duties under the Online Safety Act 2023 before launching any feature that lets users share content with each other.
Paid subscriptions. If we introduce them, we will show the full price, including taxes and any other charges, before you buy. We will show the terms before you commit, including how to cancel and how renewal works. Consumer rights apply, including the 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 where it applies, and the subscription rules in the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (including reminders and easy cancellation). Free or discounted trials that turn into paid subscriptions will be clearly explained first. These will be set out in a separate purchase process, not in these general terms alone.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Changes apply from that date and do not affect anything that already happened. If a change is material, we will say so on the site before it starts. If you do not accept the changes, stop using Kenning.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer, you also keep the mandatory protections of the law where you live and can bring a claim in the courts of the part of the UK where you live.
