What it does
- Stores API keys in the macOS Keychain instead of a .env text file
- Connects to Claude Code in one click through its own local MCP server
- Claude Code gets only a command's output, and exact copies of a key in that output are redacted
- Logs every use of a key by name, never the value
- Asks for Touch ID or the Mac password before showing a key
- Clears the clipboard after 20 seconds by default, recognises 400+ services, imports .env files

FAQ
Is Claude Keychain free?
Yes. Every feature and update is free, with no account, trial or licence key.
Does Claude ever see the API key?
Not directly in normal use. The key is passed to the command as an environment variable and Claude Code receives only the command's output, with exact copies of the key redacted. The site's security model page lists the limits.
Which Macs does it run on?
macOS 15 Sequoia or later, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs. There is no Windows, Linux or phone version.
What does it send off the Mac?
Only update checks and icon lookups for the services added. No analytics, and never a key's name or value.
Is it made by Anthropic?
No. It is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Anthropic.
