Photoroom takes a phone snap of a jumper or a trainer and gives back a clean white-background listing photo, and background removal does not use up AI credits. The free plan allows 100 exports a month but its terms limit it to personal, non-commercial use. Resellers in user reviews complained through 2026 that updates slowed batch editing and capped exports, and Trustpilot sits at 2.2 from 270 reviews, mostly about billing.

What people say

Resellers praise how well it did eBay and Vinted photos but many turned on it in 2026 after updates slowed batch mode and new plans capped exports; some warn AI edits change product details. Store stars (4.79 iOS, 4.64 Play) sit far above Trustpilot's 2.2 and the user reviews mood, a gap worth noting.

“The app was overpriced, but it did a great job for eBay photos. They really messed this one up.”

“Picsart, IbisPaintX, and Photoroom are some great editing apps to use.”

“it is very difficult to use the AI editing tools without the app changing important details of the item regardless of what you prompt it to do. It’s very risky and you have to inspect your photos carefully before posting anything for sale…”

Individual user review, 11 June 2026 · source

“In two weeks they’re going to be removing the unlimited batch background remover at 50 images per batch and limiting it to 500 per month.”

Individual user review, 5 November 2025 · source

“it's taking me roughly twice as long as it did before … Bring back a simple batch background removal app and I'll pay right away.”

4 stars. Mostly does what it says, turning product photos into something professional; easy to use, but AI credits can run out fast and some requests need repeating.

  • Zapier 2026-09-15

Named as an equally competent alternative to Pixlr for general AI editing and a similar option to Claid for AI product photography; not a top pick.

FAQ

Is Photoroom free?

There is a free plan with 100 exports a month and a low limit on AI generations. Photoroom's terms say free accounts are for personal, non-commercial use. Paid Pro on the UK App Store is £9.99, with a yearly option at £69.99 after a one-week trial.

Can I use Photoroom for Vinted or eBay photos?

Yes. Photoroom has a Vinted background-removal page, and its App Store listing says it exports images sized for Depop, Vinted, Etsy and other marketplaces. Its terms limit free accounts to non-commercial use, so regular sellers may need Pro. A user reviews seller warned that AI edits can change item details and lead to 'not as described' returns.

Does Photoroom use my photos to train its AI?

By default, yes, for designs made in the app. It can be switched off with the 'Improve model for everyone' toggle in Manage account, Data control.

How do I cancel a Photoroom free trial?

Cancel through the App Store or Google Play subscription settings before the trial ends; deleting the account does not cancel a subscription. Many Trustpilot complaints are about being charged after a trial.

Photoroom vs Pixelcut?

Both remove backgrounds for sellers. Some eBay sellers in user reviews moved to Pixelcut in 2026 after Photoroom changed its batch tools and limits.
